Terms of Use
The terms for using Chrome Extension Tools: what the tools do, what they do not do, and the limits of what this site can promise.
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Acceptable use
You may use these tools for any lawful purpose. Please do not use them to attack, disrupt, or overload Google's services, and do not use them to distribute malware. The tools are small client-side pages intended for personal and development use.
The tools do not install anything
No page on this site can install a Chrome extension, and none attempts to. Chrome does not allow a web page to install an extension, and this site does not attempt to work around that. If you load an unpacked extension, you are using Chrome's own developer mode, and you are responsible for what you load.
Downloads are requests, not guarantees
The Chrome Extension Downloader builds a request to Google's public extension endpoint. Whether Google serves a given extension is entirely Google's decision, and it varies: some listings are unavailable, some are withheld, and IDs that do not exist return an error. The tool cannot see Google's response and does not claim a download succeeded.
Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, and the endpoints this site links to are operated by Google. Their availability and behaviour can change at any time without notice.
Informational, not authoritative
The Manifest Viewer,Extension Inspector,Manifest V3 Validator andPermission Checker describe what a manifest declares. They are not Google's validator, they do not run Chrome, and they cannot tell you whether an extension is safe, trustworthy, or well written.
Permission descriptions are a summary of current Chrome documentation written for readability. When a description and Google's documentation disagree, the documentation is correct.
CRX signatures are not verified
The CRX to ZIP converter reads a CRX container to locate the archive inside it. It does not verify the package's signature, and it makes no claim that a package is authentic or untampered. Verifying a CRX3 signature means parsing its metadata and checking proved signatures against Google's signing certificates, which this site does not do.
No warranty
The site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. It may be changed, interrupted, or withdrawn at any time. You rely on it at your own risk. To the extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from its use, including downloaded files, extension behaviour, or decisions made on the basis of what a tool reports.
Your data
This site has no accounts and no database, so it holds no user data. Files you select are processed in your browser and never uploaded. The privacy page describes exactly what happens, including the one external request the downloader makes.
Not affiliated with Google
Chrome Extension Tools is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google. It is not a "Google-approved" or "Chrome-certified" service. Chrome, Chrome Web Store and Google are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only to describe the technology these tools work with.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the last revision.
